SCHOOL OF MODERN LANGUAGES
Learning a foreign language provides a unique key to the understanding of other cultures and societies. This is something which, in our increasingly globalized world, is more important than ever, as graduates with an in-depth knowledge of modern languages and intercultural competence enjoy the best employability prospects.
The FUB’s School of Modern Languages is an interdisciplinary partner within the university campus and offers a wide and exciting choice of courses in English, French, German, Italian, Castilian Spanish and Catalan both to in-house students and to the local community. Our flexible, results-oriented courses give students the opportunity to either deepen their existing linguistic knowledge or to take on a new language.
Our language programmes are designed to develop advanced communication skills, promote critical thinking, open access to intercultural understanding and achieve professional competence in the languages selected by students as their gateway to the world. They explore the many contexts in which the language is spoken, including social and technical communication, cultural perspective, industry, technology, arts and literature, media and science. The courses are delivered in small groups, with 1.5-hour sessions twice a week.
